The Shrine of Evil Chaos

The dead name Ivalis, the temple sends its answer, and the bell rings anyway.

Scene 01 · The fungus is spent

The Sergeant’s Secret

After escaping Cave G without Norman, the surviving party rested in the abandoned kobold cave and returned to town for supplies, healing and the answer promised by the fungus.

Fazzir burned the rare component beside Shannik’s corpse and performed Speak with Dead. The sergeant named his master: Ivalis, the temple’s former cleric, supposedly away on sabbatical but in truth leading the Shrine of Evil Chaos.

Fazzir’s outrage made the next decision immediate. He took up arms, joined the party and swore to bring the betrayer of his faith to justice. For this next stage of the adventure, he would replace their fallen comrade Norman as the party’s cleric.

Scene 02 · Reduce the battlefield

Before the Bell

Knowing their enemy, the party entered Cave K and began dismantling the shrine’s defences before the main fight could start.

They locked cultists inside a chapel and lured an ogre zombie away from the altar complex. Harvey approached under Invisibility while the others moved into position. The preparation removed bodies from the coming battle; it could not make the final restraint work.

Scene 03 · The bad rolls arrive

Narthus Rings the Bell

The invisible approach succeeded. Immobilising Narthus did not. A sequence of failed attempts left the cult lieutenant one path to the altar.

He seized the black bell and rang it. Skeletons pulled themselves together across the floor. Zombies flooded through the doors. Every enemy the party had removed beforehand suddenly felt like the difference between disaster and annihilation.

Fazzir reviving a fallen companion while Narthus and waves of undead overwhelm the shrine chamber — Fazzir is dragging one companion back from death while Narthus’s undead collapse the rest of the line.

Scene 04 · The Shrine nearly wins

Three Rounds Until Ivalis

The bell’s defenders hammered the party for three rounds. Narthus pressed from the altar while skeletons and zombies replaced one another faster than the front line could clear them.

Several adventurers went down and rose again through Fazzir’s healing and the last potions. Naomi conserved enough strength for the threat still approaching. Somewhere beyond the chamber, Ivalis was coming.

Scene 05 · Betrayer and believer

Ivalis Comes

Ivalis entered a chamber already on the edge of a total defeat. Naomi answered with repeated Thunderwaves, blasting lanes through the undead and giving the survivors room to act.

Fazzir reached the former cleric of his own temple. Offended in faith as much as angered by the conspiracy, he delivered the killing blow. Narthus fell, Ivalis died and the bell finally went silent.

Scene 06 · The cult points onward

The Map Beneath the Bell

Among the shrine documents, the party found a map to a kobold village and records of a mineral being mined there.

The cult intended to use that material to reanimate something its own papers called He Who Must Not Be Awoken. The map offered a route into the next part of the conspiracy—and the possibility that Kobe was waiting at its end.

Cave K was cleared. Skarn Hollow was marked on the map.
