The stolen whiskey leads to an exile, a cult camp and a sentence that cannot be undone by good intentions.
Scene 01 · Follow the whiskey
A shopkeeper’s stolen whiskey led the party from the road into the forest. The trail ended beside Xanthe, an elderly elf living under sentence of exile.
Xanthe said the Keep had condemned the wrong woman. The real cultists were camped nearby—and they had the missing casks. She pointed through the trees and gave the party a chance to prove both claims.
Scene 02 · The real cultists
The party attacked the cult camp, killed all but one conspirator and recovered the whiskey.
Among the cultists’ belongings, Harvey found a note arranging a meeting with Praal to discuss ‘the plan.’ It was the first concrete evidence that the bandits and the cult served the same design.
Scene 03 · Two days
Convinced of Xanthe’s innocence, the party put her on a cart and brought her home in triumph.
The guards arrested her immediately. Exile had been imposed on pain of death, and Captain Andrella could not overturn a tribunal’s sentence at the gate. Xanthe went to the dungeon with an execution set for two days’ time.
