Two adventurers enter the Keep, outdrink its captain, and discover how quickly a dangerous man can run.
Scene 01 · Arrival at the Keep
Fit Stonebeard and Harvey Porter reached the Keep as unknown travellers. Beneath its immense gate, the two adventurers persuaded a wary guard detail to admit them.
Inside, they explored the little town within the walls, acquired magical scrolls at the guild house and discovered that a frontier fortress could be almost welcoming when nobody was trying to kill them.
Scene 02 · A round for the house
The pair bought the public house a round and found themselves opposite Captain Andrella in a drinking contest.
The guard captain was experienced, competitive and surrounded by her own people. Fit and Harvey won anyway, leaving the Keep with a little local fame and considerably less money.
Scene 03 · The road beyond the walls
Beyond the Keep, Praal and his bandits closed around the travellers. The former noble was far more dangerous than two new adventurers had any right to face.
Then two of his minions fell. Praal’s nerve vanished with them. He turned and sprinted for safety, leaving the rest of his gang to survive the fight without him. What should have been a tragedy became the first joke of the campaign.
Praal would return. So would the running.
